I don't know if I told you how much I like peas, I would do it every week. Luckily I don't do it so often: D This time I tried a combination with spätzle that some say is pasta, I say it looks like dumplings, anyway foaaaaarte good came out!

  • 1 kg of frozen peas
  • 400 g spätzle
  • 3-4 tablespoons oil
  • 2 red onions
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 1-2 carrots
  • 1 dill connection
  • salt, ground pepper

Servings: 12

Preparation time: less than 60 minutes

RECIPE PREPARATION Pea dish with spätzle:

Onions, peppers and carrots are cleaned, washed and chopped, the carrots are put on a large grater. Put them to harden in oil in a large saucepan. After 4-5 minutes add the peas and warm water to cover it, about 1.5-2 liters.

When it starts to boil, add the spätzle and let it boil for about 10 minutes. Chop the dill and add it at the end. Season with salt and pepper and remove from the heat. Very fast and tasty.

Fasting recipe with pickles

You will need the following ingredients:

  • 7 pickles, in brine
  • 100 ml oil
  • broth or tomato juice
  • 2 potatoes
  • 3 carrots
  • 1 red hot pepper
  • 4-5 cloves of garlic (if you like garlic, you can put more)
  • 3 onions
  • 2 bay leaves
  • thyme and fresh dill
  • salt and ground pepper to taste

Method of preparation:

  • Cut the cucumbers into rounds or lengthwise, then in half and leave to soak in cold water for 10 hours
  • After they have desalted, chop the onion and add it to the pan where you put a little water to boil with a few drops of oil.
  • After the onion has boiled in oiled water, add the tomatoes, pickles, potatoes, carrots and hot peppers and enough water to cover them.
  • Bring to a boil over low heat for one hour.
  • After cooking the vegetables add salt, pepper, bay leaves, thyme, dill. Leave the pan on the fire for about 5 minutes, then put it in the preheated oven for another 15 minutes, until it drops. If you want it to be more consistent, you can add a few pickled beets to the pickles.

Here is a recipe that is easy to cook and does not require expensive ingredients.


Pea dish with ouzo Yaxni

Peel the onion and garlic. Cut the onion into thin slices then finely chop the garlic. Wash and peel the tomatoes then cut them into cubes. In a saucepan, heat the oil and cook the onion over medium heat for 5-6 minutes.

Add the finely chopped garlic and mix. Then add the peas (if you use pre-cooked peas, add only the tomatoes and keep less on the heat). Add a little water (about half a glass). Salt and pepper. Cover the pot and leave on medium heat for 35 minutes.

At the end add the chopped dill and ouzo. Leave the pot covered on the fire for another 10 minutes on medium heat.
